2. The Transit of Venus

Deepa Reddy keeps this wonderful food blog which I follow, www.paticheri.com. Please visit. I stalked her posts for a while until one day, she emailed to say that she’s planning to bake a dreamy kind of cake and would Ammai with all her spaced out wonder like to collaborate with her on it? And that’s how Ammai ended up baking her first cake.

We’ve been at it since May-June since we had to “talk” about the cake, following which I did the storyboard and illustrations, following which Deepa did the recipe and blogpost… but that cut and dry description leaves out the random asides on glazing, Pirandello, the smell of hot versus cold cake and feminist perspectives on women and food, which is what made the process so much fun. Do read the detailed post by Deepa, on the recipe, and astronomy and coincidences: http://www.paticheri.com/2012/08/18/of-voyages-and-venus-cake/

  1. Hi Space Bar 🙂 I don’t comment on blogger using this id and it’s fairly low key in any case, plus very recent. Thanks for the message though – I love your blog too so thats super encouragement to stick with it!

  2. Love your writing. It’s really pretty unique, and the imagery woven through the cartoon, despite being an image you can see, leaves scope for a lot of imagination nonetheless.
    Love,
